However, it is also known for using a considerable amount of animal products, especially pork, and we know how challenging this can be for travelers who would like to have a deeper look into our gastronomy without giving up their vegan principles. For this reason we have made a list of the top 5 + 2 popular vegan tapas that you can easily find in any traditional bar in Seville:

#1 Vegan tapa: Gazpacho

This cold tomato soup is probably the most universal Sevillian dish. Its summer vegetables mixed with our Extra Virgin Olive Oil make this dish a real delicacy, particularly on a hot summer day.  Its Cordovan brother, the Salmorejo, which is a thicker and smoother variant, is also found in most bars in Seville. We encourage you to try both and decide for yourself which one is your favorite! But remember to always order your salmorejo without topping since it can be served with serrano ham and a minced boiled egg on top.

#2 Vegan tapa: Chickpeas With Spinach (“Espinacas con Garbanzos”)

This spiced stew is the perfect tapa to recharge your batteries after visiting the city center since it is consistent and you can find it in the window of any bar in Seville.

#3 Vegan tapa: Fried aubergines with salmorejo or molasses (“Berenjenas fritas con salmorejo o miel de caña”)

No matter where you see them advertised, try them! It is one of the most gourmet tapas of Sevillian cuisine and the best thing is that they are VEGAN. Don’t be put off by the word “miel”, which means honey in spanish. “Miel de caña” is a kind of molasses that is extracted from sugar cane, therefore its production is 100% cruelty free.

#4 Vegan tapa: Potatoes with mojo picón sauce

Also known as “papas con mojo”. Although this dish is not originally from Andalusia, but from the Canary Islands, you can easily find them in any bar. It is a tapa of roasted potatoes covered by a savory sauce that can be a little bit spicy depending on the chef’s personal touch.

#5 Vegan tapa: Mushrooms in green sauce (“Champiñones en salsa verde”)

They can also be presented as stuffed mushrooms (“champiñones rellenos”), however its filling may sometimes contain animal products such as ham or prawns. For this reason, it is important to inquire before ordering it and, if it contains serrano ham, request it to be served without it.
